My Solo Exhibition at the Hyde Park Art Center Explores Female Portraiture

CHICAGO - On May 14, 2017, the Hyde Park Art Center (5020 S Cornell) will open

my new solo exhibition “Interfaces” in the Cleve Carney Gallery and

Gallery 2. Highlighting the relationship between printmaking and ceramic processes, this

exhibition will showcase new work in both clay and print that combine the techniques of

each medium to represent the multifaceted condition being a woman.

My opening night was a great success. I was very pleased with the way the show was curated and hung over 2 main gallery spaces at Cupola Contemporary Art. Karen Sherwood (Gallery owner, Curator & Director) considered ways of creating intriguing juxtapositions between my artworks (painting and printmaking) My tiny miniatures were hung next to the largest of my paintings to dramatic effect - it created an interesting dialogue amongst the works and the audience. '“This exhibition 'Caught in the act' describes a body of work where Corinna is interested in trying to capture the tension between who we are and what we reveal to the world. Many images are half revealed or are they half exposed, behind veils or other people or curtains or deep shadow? They are paintings and prints which are unexplained and seem to ask questions of the viewer, to which the viewer can only surmise an answer. Are they caught in an act? I think we all are.”
