BIG Heads

It has been a great experience for me taking my work up to such a scale. Now that I have a big studio to work in it would’ve been be rude not to…!

Now I want to make a show of big pictures!

Recently - as a starting point, I’ve been using images of ancient sculpted heads and mythological figures discovered in museums as well as fashion images from magazines.
My heads are at first drawn, washed out layered over then excavated back.
This process continues in the pursuit of creating an almost sculptural surface. I have been manipulating and fashioning the surfaces of these heads in order to project a particular identity or sensibility. I want these heads to have a profound sense of presence.

Corinna Button
